Hongshilin Town promotes rural revitalization through courtyard economy

“In the past two years, there have been more and more tourists, and the operation of the agritainment can bring in more than 40,000 yuan per year,” said a villager of Zuolongxia Village, Hongshilin Town, Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

In order to increase the income of farmers through multiple channels, Hongshilin Town has invested 1.2 million yuan this year to vigorously develop the courtyard economy. Zuolongxia Village has upgraded the farm yards, utilized the idle lands around the houses, and created landscapes with seasonal changes to attract tourists. The Tujia courtyards have been turned into vegetable gardens, back gardens and micro-farms for tourists.

Baiguoshu Village of Hongshilin Town has taken advantage of Chinese herbal resources and alpine climate resources, and planned to plant 100 mu (about 6.666 hectares) of Fructus Evodiae to further increase the income of the village collective.

Since the beginning of this year, the cadres of Hongshilin Town have held meetings with the masses, extensively collected public opinion, and helped villagers solve a variety of difficulties, setting off a wave of rural construction. Villagers have renovated their own courtyards, with the items neatly placed in the courtyards. They have planted fruits and vegetables and raised chickens, ducks and geese in the courtyards.

The development of courtyard economy has created a way to increase income for the masses, effectively driving 325 rural households to increase their income by more than 2,000 yuan.
